Squeaky Wheels the Rationale

Team Squeaky Wheels came together by accident following a drunken conversation about the possibility of riding from Lands End to John O'Groats. The result was the accumulation of a quarter of a millenniums worth of accumulated wit and (arguably) wisdom in the guise of Jeff, Tim, Don and Michael. To give us all an incentive to accomplish this route we decided to make the journey a sponsored ride for McMillan Cancer Support, and run this Blog for our friends and supporters. Hopefully we will provide daily reports of our progress and events during the ride. These may become more terse as exhaustion and saddle sores kick in. So watch this space.

Day (10)

Scotland at last. Crossed the border at 9am as can be seen in the photograph. Shortly after the photo the skies opened and all the smiles vanished. This set the pattern for the ride. Short sharp showers, with significant drops in temperature, and the sun toying with us,  suggesting that it was going to get warmer and better. The ride should have been easy but the wind was shifting and mainly in our faces. Though less in force than yesterday, it still had the power to stop you in your tracks, especially on the long climb to Abington. A surprisingly hard day, alleviated by the coffee and fruit cake in Lockerbie.

  1. A message from Hilary:
We thought about you yesterday. Even in Oxford it was blowing the kind of gale to lift some of us off our feet so it must have been ghastly for you. Let's hope that's the worst over! I bet you sleep well ...
